Turquoise belongs to the phosphates group, some gems are very porous, so it may be impregnated with wax, or resin to maintain its appearance, or enhance its colour. Iran is one of the oldest sources for Tyrquoise and still is, while it can be found also in Tibet, Africa, Australia, Ethiopia, Mexico, Chile, China and often in Europe.
